The Importance of Authentication

As I’m sure you already know (since you’re wise enough to read the DesCon Sports Memorabilia blog) authentication is the #1 most important thing when it comes to autographed memorabilia.

If you ever purchase an autographed item that doesn’t come with a Certificate of Authenticity (COA), unless you witnessed the signing, you have to consider the possibility that the item was forged. If a photo or football or baseball bat have a fake autograph on them, it’s not worth zero, it’s actually worth less than zero because the fake autograph ruined the photo!

For these reasons, DesCon Sports Memorabilia only works with the best authenticators in the business. As of the time of this writing most of our hand signed autographs come with a COA from All About Autographs, Inc. They use a tamper-proof holofoil on the item and the certificate. This holofoil has a serial number that will allow you to view the history of your item online.

Another red flag when it comes to buying autographed sports memorabilia online is companies that state that “all sales are final” or “no returns accepted”. As a customer, why would I buy something from you that you clearly can’t wait to unload?? At DesCon Sports Memorabilia, if any of our autographed items are refuted by a reputable authenticator, we will accept returns for a full refund.

Any items at DesCon Sports that don’t have a COA will be clearly marked and will come at a deep discount and full return policy.

Here are a few of our hand signed autographed memorabilia that come with a full COA:

Please contact Matt at DesConSports@gmail.com if you have any questions about any of our items or leave a comment below. Thanks, and enjoy the Pro Bowl...   (does anybody watch that??)

Happy New Year from DesCon!

Wow, what a year it's been. The Giants won the World Series, UCLA lost in the College World Series and the Clippers still stink. It's been a great year at DesCon Sports Memorabilia as well. As our regular readers probably noticed the blog has been completely redesigned. There is our new "Customer Location Map" that shows the cities we've shipped great sports memorabilia to. I know it's incomplete so we left your city off, we didn't mean to, please just shoot us an e-mail at DesConSports@gmail.com and let us know and we'll add you right away.

Some other new additions:
You can now find us (and become a fan *hint hint*) on Facebook here. We're trying to get to 25 fans so we can rename the page to facebook.com/DesConSports, so if you're not a fan, I have some homework for you!

We opened up an Amazon Merchant Site that can be found at www.amazon.com/shops/ShopDesCon.

Some of our best deals can still be found on eBay here.

DesCon Sports Memorabilia is now listed on ResellerRatings.com so if you've ever made a purchase from us, you can let the world know how we did over at  www.resellerratings.com/store/DesCon_Sports_Memorabilia. You'll need your order number to leave a review but if you don't have it let us know and we'll send it over to you.

Then, one addition to main store site (besides the mass amount of Brian Wilson and Tim Lincecum World Series Photos) is the ability to buy gift cards through PayPal. You can pay with your paypal account or a credit card and e-mail it to a friend or print out a certificate to give to somebody in person.

Ok, that's enough tooting our own horn for now. Thanks for all your support in 2010. We're looking forward to an even better 2011. I'll leave you with something entertaining. How would it feel to be 5'8" (listed at 5'9" but I have my doubts) and try to sell your own NFL jersey in your own town? Let's find out from Danny Woodhead.
